Scholarships-Study in Jainism

The following organizations in India or abroad promote and encourage studies in Jainism including the advance studies in Jainism. These organizations can be approached directly on the addresses given below for details and prospectus etc. The amount of scholarship varies from 200/-to 20,000/- for the graduate and masters level studies depending upon case to case and in accordance to the policy of the organization.  Most of the scholarships are Interest free Loan /Scholarships and the student has to return the amount when he / she start to earn.

Jain Spirit Award for Postgraduate Research

This award is sponsored by the Jain Spirit Magazine. The total value of the scholarship is £5000. It is awarded for postgraduate research on Jainism to students registered in the Department of the Study of Religions. Students can apply for any amount within the total sum of this scholarship with a short written outline of the proposed project which may be part of a larger research scheme.

 

 

Veer Ji Raghav Scholarship - North America
Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) has institute Veer ji Raghav ji Scholarship for students following studies sand research in Jainism. The scholarship will be awarded for a period of four years at the rate of Rupees. 15,000 to 17,000 per annum.

Scholarships for the Academic Year 2007-08

Shri Brihad Bhartiya samaj invites applications in the prescribed forms for scholarship for the Academic Year 2007-08 from Indian students and overseas students of Indian origin undergoing full time Degree courses in Indian Universities and IIT's in medicine (MBBS, BDS,, Aurveda and Homeopathy), Engineering Technology, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Nursing, Education and Post Graduate Courses in these facilities.

First year students with minimum of 70% marks and others with  minimum 60% marks in their last University Examination and female students studying in first year and above for Nursing and Education with a minimum of 45% marks are  eligible. Guardian's total annual income should not exceed Rs 60000/= About 200 students will be selected for the award of scholarship on the basis of merit. Students in receipt of scholarship from the Central and/or State Governments or from their Universities/Colleges/Institutions will not be eligible.

Application forms and copies of rules will be available from the office of the Samaj at NK Mehta International House, 178, Backbay Reclamation, Babubhai M Chinai Marg, (Behind LIC 'Yogakshema'), Mumbai-400 020 and may also be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-)  large-sized envelop to the Samaj Office. The last date for returning the duly filled in application form's to the Samaj Office is 25th September.2007

Scholarship Policy

The prime objectives of the foundation are:-

 

(a)         To grant aid to the needy, destitute & desperate persons specially the ‘Widows, Orphans or physically/ mentally handicapped, the aged, other needy person and the public at large.

(b)   To give assistance to poor students in the form of scholarship (free scholarship or loan) or otherwise without any distinction of caste, creed or sex.

 

 

SCHOLARSHIP  GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

 

Scholarship: The scholarship is a form of financial assistance to the qualified students.

 

Eligibility:  10+2 with very high percentage of marks obtained from any the recognized board of examination.

 

Scholarship for the courses: Admission in full time regular basis Degree courses  for higher studies i.e. Graduation programs courses in Indian Universities and IIT's Engineering Technology,  Computer Science  and other allied branches from any recognizes Institution  within India only.

 

 

Number of scholarships:  up to 5 scholarships without any distinction of caste, creed or sex are offered every year. That will be refunded after the completion of his/her study. These scholarships are given based on exam grades and family situation on meager means basis, the annual family income from all sources should be less than Rupees 1, 00,000 in urban areas and Rupees 50,000 in rural areas per year.

These scholarships are provided without interest which the recipients are expected to return to the Foundation 6 months after completion of their courses, so that other members of the society could benefit like them in coming years.

 

Amount of Scholarship: A Student who qualify for scholarship program will be eligible to accept the tuition fee payable to the institution  the cost up to the maximum of rupees 5,000/- to 10.000/- per year only.

 

General:

 

(a)   The successful applicants would be informed accordingly.

No. correspondence will be entertained from those who do not qualify for the scholarship. Reasons for not being awarded a scholarship are not provided, as resources do not permit.

(b)  Processing of application may take about 2-3 months.

(c)  students  provided with any Scholarship will have to sign and abide by this scholarship contract after the sanction of study loan.

(d) The decision of the Smt. Kalyan Mala Jain Foundation /management panel is the final.

KAUST DISCOVERY SCHOLARSHIPS

For Science and technology students

The KAUST Discovery Scholarship is the general scholarship program of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

This program is designed to ensure that any highly talented student who is qualified and eligible to enroll in KAUST will receive full financial support while at the University. Those who receive a Discovery Scholarship will receive full tuition support, a living stipend, and summer and career enrichment programs.

KAUST will offer Discovery Scholarships to all KAUST students – an exceptional level of support intended to attract gifted and talented students from Saudi Arabia and from other countries around the world.

KAUST will offer a pre-enrollment version of this general scholarship program to students attending first-university or bachelor's degree programs. KAUST will provide financial support to pre-enrollment Discovery Scholarship recipients at their home institutions prior to the University's opening. Upon graduation, these students will enter KAUST as master's degree students in September 2009 and 2010 to complete their graduate studies on a fully funded scholarship.
