Janma Kalyanak

Janma Kalyanak:- This event is celebrated when the Tirthankar's soul is born. Upon taking the birth of  Tirthankar the chariot of Indra shakes and the bells and other musical instruments start ringing in the palaces where he resides and in other places where other Deva's resides. This is kind of information and assurance that the Tirthankar has taken birth. Saudharma Indra rides the Eravat elephant along with all Indra -Dev and lands on earth. He directs his wife Indrani  Sachi to bring the child by replacing it with another superficially created one and make the tirthankar’s mother to undergo sound sleep. Sachi Indrani gives the child to Saudharma Indera, he enjoys the aura with his thousand eyes & still remains unsatisfied.

Saudharma Indra carries the balak tirthankar to mount sumeru over panduksheela and Abhisheka Ceremony is held by pouring water with 1008 urns/kalash. The water is brought from ksheer Sagar by Deva's which is like milk and free from all impurities.

Sau-dharma Indra by seeing the thumb of Tirthanka decides the symbol that will be en-marked on the idols and after dressing baby tirthankar with beautiful clothes and ornaments return him back to parents of Tirthankar and they all return to their palaces in Dev loke-heaven. All necessary arrangements like cloths, food and other needs are made from Dev loke-heaven as a routine. The birth of Tirthankar is celebrated with songs and dances etc in the palace.

On the day of Janma Kalyanak a grand procession is taken out of the balak tirthankar by the community accompanied by Aravat elephants, other elephants, Horses chariots, camels, raths from the temple and after passing on all important routs reach the artificially created panduk sheela where abhishek of balak Tirthankr is performed with 1008 urns.

Some of the pitures of this functions and procession can be seen in the picture gallary.
